Thulani Nzima is the new CEO of SA Tourism and takes over from Tim Scholtz, who filled the position in an acting capacity, following the departure of Thandiwe January-Mclean in June.
The announcement was made by South African Tourism Minister, Marthinus van Schalkwyk. “I am very pleased with Thulani Nzima's appointment”, said van Schalkwyk. “He not only has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the tourism industry, but his management skills will certainly steer SAT to greater heights.” Nzima's term of office is three years.
He will join SA Tourism from car rental company, Avis, where he has been director of sales and marketing. It’s not the first tourism-related position that Nzima will hold. Between 1991 and 2007, he was the senior executive manager at SA Airways, and CEO at the SA Travel Centre.
