Turkish Airlines finalises order for five additional 777-300ERs

Turkish Airlines has announced an order for five Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft. The Turkish flag-carrier has exercised options on five 777-300ERs that were first announced in December 2012 as part of a previous firm order for 15 777-300ERs. Turkish Airlines now has 20 of these planes currently on order from Boeing.

Turkish Airlines' fleet currently includes 12 777-300ERs, the first of which Boeing delivered in October 2010. Since then, the 777-300ER has played a significant role in Turkish Airlines' long-haul growth.

The 777-300ER can seat up to 386 passengers in a three-class configuration and has a maximum range of 14,685 kilometres.

The airline’s African destinations include Accra, Abidjan, Addis Ababa, Algiers, Cape Town, Dakar, Entebbe, Johannesburg, Kinshasa, Kigali, Lagos, Libreville, Lusaka, Mombasa, Mogadishu, Ndjamena, Nouakchott, Tripoli, Tunis and Yaoundé.
 

Turkish Airlines to Launch Longest Flight

According to news24, Turkish Airlines is planning the world's first non-stop commercial flight from Europe to Australia.
The Telegraph reports that the new route from Istanbul to Sydney will be the longest commercial flight in the world, spanning 14,956km.
 The service will initially include a stopover in Asia but the airline expects to run non-stop journeys within three years, probably using the Boeing 777-300ER.
The new service will put many European cities within one short hop of the Australian city. Currently the 19-hour Singapore Airlines flight running 15,544km from Singapore to Newark, New York, is the world's longest unbroken commercial flight, however the service is expected to cease at the end of the year.

Turkish Airlines Expands Global Network

 According to breakingnewstravel, Turkish Airlines has announced additional flights from Istanbul to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25 April.
This will make the airline the world’s fourth largest flight network, with 222 destinations in 99 countries. Beginning later this month, roundtrip flights between Istanbul and Kuala Lumpur will be operated three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
 Flights between the two cities will be increased to four times weekly, with the addition of a Wednesday flight beginning 17 June.
The addition of this destination also means that Turkish Airlines passengers coming from UK airports (London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh), will now be able to reach Kuala Lumpur via Istanbul.

Turkish Airlines Flies to Libreville

Turkish Airlines has added a 97th country to its route network by commencing flights to Libreville, Gabon, according to China.org.cn.
 The airline will operate flights from Istanbul, via Douala, to Libreville, which will be its 34th destination in Africa. Turkish Airlines will fly the route three days a week in both directions.
The inaugural phase will last until March, during which time the airline will schedule three rotational flights from Libreville every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 03h10 local time.
 Departure from Istanbul is set at 17h45 every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The flights will arrive in the Gabonese capital at 02h10, after a stopover in Douala. Turkish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance.
